Elbogen2 4ff; 73) 1 Ti 2:1; cp. ἐξομολόγησις, εως, ἡ (Dionys. Hal., Plut., JosAs; Philo, Leg. All. 1, 82; Jos., Bell. 5, 435; Theoph. Ant. 2, 29 [p. 170, 17; w. μετάνοια]) s. preceding entry 4, praise of God (so LXX; ‘acknowledgment, profession’ PsSol; JosAs title and 15:2): by rich men λίαν μικρὰν ἔχει τὴν ἐ. Hs 2:5; because of the nearness of ἔντευξις=‘intercessory prayer’ perh. ἐ. here acquires the more specialized sense ‘prayer of thanksgiving’ (s.
